It can serve as an inspirational catalogue for Danish companies, regardless of whether you are already offering services or are on the path to do so.
Overview of the range of services within Danish manufacturing companies

- Where is the company positioned in relation to other companies in the industry?
- Does the company’s website display and explain the services offered?
- How easy is it to find the right contact person if you are interested in a specific service?
According to the practical guide ‘Servitization in Industrial Firms: Mapping and Analyzing the Danish Service Landscape’, these are questions that manufacturing companies with ambitions to improve their range of services can ask themselves. The guide surveys the websites of more than 1,100 Danish manufacturing companies to provide an overview of the degree of servitization in Denmark. This provides a lot of useful insight both on the supply of services in general and the supply in the various industries.
Inspirational catalogue of offered services
Among other things, the practical guide contains a catalogue of the services provided by the companies surveyed. They are divided into 12 categories – e.g. Consulting, which includes general consultancy, process consultancy and product consultancy. Or Smart Services, which includes software updates, remote monitoring and service, system upgrades, data analysis and/or diagnostics, application management and software licensing agreements. Companies that do not yet offer services can use the catalogue as a source of inspiration and see which services are available on the Danish market. And companies that already offer services can see whether there are services that one can be inspired by and add them to their range.
Services by industry
In addition to surveying which services the Danish companies offer, the practical guide also takes a closer look at the proportion of companies that offer services within specific service categories. The guide also shows the prevalence of the 12 service categories within six different industries – namely production of machinery and equipment, other metal production, production of electronics and optical equipment, specialized construction activities, production of rubber and plastic products and various industries.
Thus, the practical guide makes it possible to gain insight into which service categories are widespread in each industry – and which are not. This knowledge can be used to assess which services one should offer in order to be a competitive service provider in the respective industries. Likewise, it can be used in determining where one can invest if one wants to provide atypical services.
